Herding with Swissies
Swissies are considered a draft and drover breed.  The "Droving" refers to driving cattle from pasture to wherever necessary by the herdsman.  They were a great asset to the swiss farmer with their natural herding ability and many still show a strong instinct to herd, and drive livestock.

This picture, on the left, shows Kenzie earning her second leg towards her Herding Capability Tested title through AHBA (American Herding Breeds Association).  In this image Kenzie is displaying gathering instinct, where this ewe has broken from the flock and Kenzie feels it needs to be returned to "her" group.

In the picture on the right, Kenzie is displaying "driving ability".  This is done from behind the flock or herd and is simply moving the group forward.  This is another element to the HCT title, through AHBA.

The two pictures below demonstrate control:  a stop and a down.  A herding dog must be under control and not simply chasing the stock.
