About Us
Megan and Dustin's Story.....
The dream of Blue View began with the purchase of our first home and a few acres in 2007. The following year we added our first swissy to the family, which already included Dustin, Jake, Dudley, and myself. With Kenzie came the hope of starting our own swissy breeding program. One that focused on producing the best pets possible and always breeding to hopefully keep the best puppy for ourselves to go on with... breeding Kenzie didn't work out to plan and our hope of producing that first litter is still to be realized.
We are aiming towards sometime in 2013 to whelp our first litter. Dustin and I both have always loved animals and I grew that passion for caring for them into a career, becoming a licensed veterinary technician, graduating from the Bel-Rea Institute in 2006, with a degree in Applied Animal Science. I grew up on a farm, where "doctoring" animals is daily routine and this profession just seemed natural to me. I currently work in a mixed animal practice, where our patients range from C-section puppies to 3000 pound cattle. I enjoy all animals, but especially love dogs and horses. I don't remember the first time I sat upon a horse- I was only a few weeks old!- but have loved them from the start. As a child I competed in eventing, show jumping, and hunters with my two mares, Katie and Star. I have had a few horses in my life, but am currently without one. In honor of my love of these creatures, I gave my first swissy the registered name "Suddanly Irish Draught" after my favorite breed of horse. Dogs have happily replaced horses in my life and I enjoy competing and training them just as much as I did my horses. I regularly attend dog training class, whether it's obedience, agility, or brushing up a young dog's conformation evaluation skills. It's not uncommon for my dogs and I to spend two nights a week at class and then compete on the weekends in a multitude of competition venues. I am a member of: Blue Ridge Dog Training Club Chesapeake & Potomac GSMD Club, board of directors Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club of America, Agility Committee Head and approved Draft Judge Dustin has always been an avid outdoorsman and really introduced me to his love of backpacking, hiking, and skiing. As a kid he was involved in the Boy Scouts, which taught him a lot about surviving on your own. I always feel safe out in the wilderness with him- he can do anything! While living in Denver, Colorado, we made the most of our time there and routinely enjoyed all of the above, spending most weekends in the beautiful mountains of the Colorado Rockies. Dustin works as an Automotive Technician, specializing in Audi/ Volkswagen repair. He graduated from Wyo-Tech, in Blairsville, PA in 2003 and has worked in several European service centers. He is my mechanic extraordinaire- keeping our automotive fleet dog-show ready at all times! Please feel free to contact us anytime via email at: [email protected] or via phone at: 540.664.3946 |
